Energy Saving Improvements Details

The property is an early Victorian cottage dating from the 1800s with solid brick walls and a pitched roof with 3 rooms in the roof.

One of the ground floor rooms which previously suffered from cold and damp has been internally insulated with a 10mm thick flexible liner. The owner says the room is now much more comfortable.

The heating system includes a high efficiency gas boiler which has been supplemented by an evacuated tube solar hot water panel on the south facing roof to provide around 75% of the hot water needs.

The heating system also has programmable thermostatic radiator valves.

The house has a 1.9kWp photo voltaic system mounted on another part of the south facing roof.

There is 250mm of loft insulation, replacement double glazing and all of the lights are low energy.

The Energy Performance Certificate shows the house as band D with SAP68 and producing 3.3tCO2 annually
