Energy Saving Improvements Details

The property is a large detached 5 bedroom house dating from 1934 but with 2 later extensions. The property has undergone a number of energy saving improvements.

Perhaps the most significant is the change to a biomass boiler connected to a heat store. The boiler is installed in an attached boiler room and burns logs and timber off cuts. The heat store allows residual heat from the boiler to be held until it's needed.

The windows have been replaced with A'rated timber frame windows in a traditional style but using environmentally sensitive materials and treatments.

The original part of the house has solid brick walls which have been internally insulated using plasterboard over 50mm Celotex rigid foam insulation boards on battens.

The Energy Performance Certificate shows SAP57 in band D with but with an environmental performance of 93 producing just 1.2tCO2
